Design Consultant – Façade Consulting

Location: Northeastern United States

CDC is seeking individuals with experience in building façade design and construction, for Design Consultant positions in our Connecticut, Ohio, Virginia, and New Jersey offices. Ideal candidates will have backgrounds in aluminum-and-glass curtain wall systems; window systems; masonry; stone; precast concrete; or unitized/panelized façade systems featuring barrier wall, rain screen or pressure equalized performance capabilities; and will have depth of understanding in the use and application of sealants, flashings, thermal insulation, and air/water/vapor barrier materials within the systems listed above. Computer, writing and verbal communication skills are required, as well as the ability to handle multiple projects at one time. Working knowledge of AutoCad is a plus.

Duties will include:

• providing consulting services to Owners, Architects and Contractors for building façade systems;
• system selection, detail development and specification writing or editing;
• site observations, witnessing laboratory testing and field testing, which may include riding swing stages and other vertical access equipment;
• expert witness services;
• engineering analysis;
• and new client and market development.

These positions will require travel, mainly within the Northeastern United States; with some travel to other parts of the U.S. and internationally as project requirements dictate. Consultants will be working in association with other CDC offices as work load requires and/or individual knowledge is applicable to work assignments being supervised by your management team.

Compensation shall be commensurate with industry experience, knowledge base and background.

Job Captain

• Lead the work of CAD Technicians.
• Supervise the preparation of complete sets of drawings and revisions of detail and design drawings.
• Exercise independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data.
• Analyze and interpret general designs prepared by others to complete and finalize the drafting work.
• Supervise the preparation of final construction drawings for cladding and curtain wall systems.
• Prepare and supervise revisions of detail and design drawings.
• Working closely with design originators, use AutoCAD drafting techniques to prepare drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs.
• Anticipate problems in manufacture, assembly, installation and operation and resolve these potential problems in the drawings produced.
• Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Engineering plus 3 years curtain wall or cladding experience.

CAD Tech 2

• Use AutoCad drafting techniques to prepare detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings, according to specifications, sketches, and rough drafts provided by supervisor.
