Project Description

Located in the Brickell Financial District of Miami, this all-office tower stands at 40 stories tall and contains approximately 580,000 square feet of office space. The building has been pre-certified Gold by the LEED Green Building rating system. Billed by the Owner as the "most wind-resistant glass sided office tower in the nation," it was tested to a design wind pressure of 183 PSF and an overload wind pressure of 275 PSF. The complex geometry of the building included inside corners, outside corners, "pop-outs" on the main elevations, both sloping and inverted sloping setbacks, and the inverted southeast wall transitioning to a single corner above level 21. In 2011, 1450 Brickell was named the Most Innovative Protective Glazing Project by the Crystal Achievement Awards.

Scope of Services

CDC provided design consulting services throughout the Schematic, Design Development and Construction Document phase of the work. We provided design detailing, technical specifications to the Architect and then reviewed subcontractor bids on behalf of the General Contractor. We reviewed submittals and attended laboratory mock-up testing.
