Located in the beautiful River North neighborhood of downtown Chicago, this 45-story office tower includes both retail and office spaces. Architectural features include striking glass and steel curtain wall, and 9-foot, floor-to-ceiling vision glass, which allow for unobstructed views of the city skyline. Custom glass fins mounted on the exterior side of the lobby highlight the handsome entry to this Chicago landmark.
CDC provided full engineering services for the monumental all-glass lobby walls. Services included shop drawings, fabrication drawings, structural calculations, thermal calculations, and witnessing special glass fin testing. This project employed special anchorage at the top and bottom of each exterior-mounted low iron 3/4" glass fin. One-inch insulating glass face plates are supported by horizontals with stainless steel rods running the full height of the vertical glass joints. All exterior and interior covers are stainless steel.
