Project Description

This project consists of a 500-room hotel, a public plaza, and a Public Transit Center connecting the Denver International Airport with Union Station in downtown Denver. The hotel features transparent glass in order to avoid solar reflectivity issues that might impact regular aerospace activities.

Scope of Services

CDC provided assistance in developing the roofing and waterproofing systems, development of specifications regarding the roofing and waterproofing systems, and review of design drawings during the Design Development and Construction Documents Phases. Additionally, CDC provided Solar Reflectivity Analysis using state-of-the-art custom Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). CDC provided detailed analysis for determining any solar reflectivity issue and its duration for the entire year. Challenges included calculating reflected light intensity, angle, distance traveled, and direction that could get into the control tower's and pilot's cone of vision while taking-off or landing.
