This five-story, 531,000-square-foot courthouse replaced an outdated facility which was constructed in 1959. The project occupies six acres in Long Beach's redevelopment area. The facility contains 31 courtrooms, multiple offices for county justice agencies, retail spaces, and an interior courtyard. It also includes secure below-grade inmate transfer facilities, detention facilities, and parking areas for judges. The project has been awarded multiple awards including: AGC of California Constructor Award, DBIA National Award of Excellence (Design), DBIA Western Pacific Design-Build Award, ENR California Best Project Award (Government Building), Los Angeles Business Journal Commercial Real Estate Award (Public), CMAA Los Angeles Project of the Year Award (Quality Assurance), DBIA National Award of Execellence (Merit, Civic), as well as the ENR California Best Project Award (Civic).
CDC performed full building envelope consulting services from Schematic Design to Construction Administration phases including exterior wall cladding systems, roofing and waterproofing, and below-grade waterproofing. CDC also provided engineering services for the atrium glass curtain wall.
