Carnival Center for the Performing Arts
Miami, FL
The Carnival Center for the Performing Arts
features two buildings connected by a sweeping
bridge that spans Biscayne Boulevard.
A unique feature is the colorful paved plaza with
carved stone fountains, as well as the welcoming
entrances on all sides of the building.
The elliptical
plaza features four fountains with carved wave
ridges designed by Anna Valentina Murch, for
which CDC developed 3D drawings of the concrete
substrate onto which the stones rest.
CDC worked with Titan Stone, Tile and Masonry
of Florida in the production of granite and cast
stone shop drawings, as well as the engineering
of the anchorage of the stone, which is designed
to sustain gale force hurricane winds.
Due to the
complexity of the project, CDC produced substrate
drawings for the stone and curtainwall.
CDC engineered the curtain wall system for Baker
Metal Products.
