CDC understands the importance of our built heritage, and we take pride in helping property owners maintain their historical buildings. CDC’s diverse staff has the experience and expertise to assist with the assessment and remediation of historical structures. Our team can:
- Perform a visual examination of the building envelope, including the facades, windows, roofs, and ornamental features such as stone or terracotta.
- Review previous repair documents and historical records to identify past alterations to a building’s historical features.
- Coordinate testing to investigate the properties of historical materials, when required.
- Design remediation repairs with materials that match or closely resemble (when authorized) original building materials. For certain buildings, this includes compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
- Coordinate proposed repair work with the local historic preservation authority or State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
- Serve as Application of Record or consultant for the repair work.
